Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hardcourt

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a former world number one, has endured a difficult period, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the American major.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in especial - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with his coach and Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.

This represents his first championship following the Rome competition and initial on a hard court since spring of 2023.

Success also means he has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one various events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children at once, so to secure a title is particularly special," said tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my child her name, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, including in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and frequent outbursts on court had prompted commentators to doubt if his skill to play at the top level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, striving to approach the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an improved serve.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players exchanged breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial professional victory, seized the initiative to create a final set.

Moutet defended four early-game break points in a close third set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner secured victory with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
